The Rapid Access Pain Clinic is for people suffering after a motor vehicle accident, workplace accident, sports injury, illness, or surgery, or with other painful disorders. Patient can usually expect to be seen within about 2-6 weeks. Our goals include decreasing the frequency and intensity of pain, decreasing drug dependence, increasing movement and function, and increasing the ability to cope with pain.

Dr. Andrew H. Yu, (MD, FRCPC) is a practicing  anesthesiologist with an interest in Chronic Pain Management. He works full time and splits his time in clinical anesthesia and pain management. Prior to completing his specialty training, he gained valuable clinical experience as a general practitioner and emergency department physician. Following the completion of his residency training  Dr. Yu worked as a locum anesthesiologist for a short period before settling in Burnaby Hospital.  Dr. Yu consults on pain patients both at Burnaby Hospital, as well as in his own clinic near Metrotown, Burnaby.

Dr. Yu started his undergraduate  education at the University of British Columbia and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physiology with honours.  Dr. Yu received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of British Columbia in 1994 and subsequently entered the Anesthesiology residency program at the University of British Columbia, which he completed in 1999. He maintains his continuing medical education in both anesthesiology and pain management.
